Import Promotion Desk (IPD)
The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is the service provider for import promotion in Germany.
It serves as a link between German importers and exporters from selected developing countries and emerging nations.
The IPD accompanies its clients during the entire procurement process with the aim of a sustainable and well-structured import promotion - in compliance with high quality, social and environmental standards.
Currently, the IPD is active in the partner countries Egypt, Indonesia, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Peru, Colombia, Ethiopia and Tunisia. In these countries, the IPD focuses on the following product groups: fresh fruit and vegetables, cut flowers, natural ingredients for food products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as well as technical wood.
The IPD provides the exporters with access to the German and European market and increases their export potential.
The IPD has been initiated by sequa, a globally operating development organisation in close cooperation with the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA).
The IPD is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The IPD is part of an international network consisting of import promotion organisations, German business membership organisations and export promotion agencies in the respective partner countries. The IPD, which has two German project offices (in Berlin and Bonn), also cooperates closely with the private sector as well as a pool of experts from a many different number of sectors.
